Repetition can be so effective in efficient design. This lamp was a project that I developed as an exercise in laminating wood veneers. Ultimately, the design consists of two pieces and the lamp body. The base is a single piece of aluminum and the fins are the same piece repeated.
The outer surface has a walnut veneer applied and the inside is a cherry veneer with a lot of grain. The contrasting material colors help to exaggerate the light on the inside of the lamp. Even when turned off, the internal surface appears to glow in contrast to the dark walnut exterior.
